Jessica had already worked with specialists, tried therapies, and done everything she could for her son. Hear why she chose MeRT® — and what happened after six weeks of treatment.
"No experience with autism is the same. MeRT has done more for Rowan than most of the other treatments — and it's non-invasive, drug-free, and highly recommended by this mom."
— Jessica, Rowan's motherJessica is the kind of parent who does the research. Before coming to Brain Treatment Center Michigan, she had already worked with specialists and built a team around Rowan to support his development. She wasn't looking for a miracle — she was looking for something that could enhance what other therapies had started.
What drew her to MeRT was the science behind it. The process starts with a detailed qEEG brain map — not a guess, not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Dr. Wallace analyzes the actual brainwave data to understand exactly where dysregulation is occurring, then designs a treatment protocol specifically for that child.
For Rowan, that specificity made the difference.

— Jessica, after completing 6 weeks of MeRT treatmentMeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy) is an advanced, personalized form of rTMS. Every treatment plan begins with a quantitative EEG — a detailed map of how your child's brain is currently communicating. That data drives everything: where we stimulate, at what frequency, and how the protocol evolves over six weeks.
The EEG is repeated at weeks two, four, and six so the protocol can be adjusted as the brain responds. This is what separates MeRT from standard TMS, which uses a fixed protocol that never changes.
A comfortable cap records brainwave activity — no needles, no discomfort. This gives us a precise picture of where your child's brain is dysregulated.
Dr. Wallace analyzes the EEG findings and designs a treatment protocol around your child's specific patterns — not a standard approach.
Monday through Friday, five days a week. Each session is approximately 30–45 minutes. The EEG is repeated at weeks two, four, and six to refine the protocol.
At the end of treatment, you sit down with Dr. Wallace to review the before-and-after EEG data and talk through what the results mean for your child.
MeRT doesn't replace the work you've already done with your child. It can be combined safely with ABA, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and other approaches. Many families find that MeRT enhances the progress made in other therapies by addressing the underlying neurological patterns.
We treat children ages 3 and older for autism and developmental disorders at both our Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids locations.
MeRT and ABA therapy can be combined — many families report that ABA becomes more effective after MeRT treatment.
We treat children across the full autism spectrum, from young children to teens and adults.
No medications, no anesthetics. MeRT uses only gentle magnetic pulses tuned to your child's brainwave patterns.

Dr. Wallace reviews every patient's EEG findings, approves every treatment protocol, and personally conducts results appointments. Brain Treatment Center Michigan is physician-led at every step.

We currently have limited new patient availability at both locations. Our care team will reach out within one business day — no commitment required — just a conversation about your child and whether MeRT may be a good fit.
