EEG-Guided MeRT for PTSD · Michigan

PTSD treatment built around how your brain responds to trauma.

Post-traumatic stress can follow a single traumatic event or prolonged exposure to extreme stress — not only military service. MeRT® maps your brain's activity and builds a protocol around what it finds. Non-invasive, drug-free, and personalized to you.

PTSD doesn't only follow military service

We work with veterans and civilians alike — first responders, accident survivors, and anyone whose nervous system is still responding to a traumatic event or prolonged extreme stress. If standard treatments haven't been enough, MeRT offers a different starting point: your brain's own activity.

Persistent hypervigilance or sleep disruption

If trauma symptoms are affecting your sleep, focus, or relationships, MeRT starts with mapping the networks involved.

Medication side effects or limited relief

If medication hasn't fully resolved your symptoms, or the side effects aren't worth it, MeRT works through a different mechanism.

Veterans and military families

If your PTSD is service-connected, see our dedicated page for veterans, including VA Community Care Network information.

Mapping your brain's response to trauma

MeRT begins with a qEEG brain map, then builds a protocol around the specific patterns it finds — rather than applying the same fixed protocol to every patient. The EEG is repeated during treatment so your protocol can adjust as you respond.

FDA-cleared for PTSD

The MeRT System is intended to be used as an adjunct for the treatment of adult patients suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (FDA 510(k) K260402, cleared June 3, 2026). In Wave Neuroscience's pivotal clinical trial, patients averaged a 52% reduction in PTSD symptoms at the end of treatment, with a 68% remission rate.

What patients ask about PTSD and MeRT

Is this only for combat-related PTSD?

No. We work with anyone experiencing post-traumatic stress, whether from a single event, an accident, or prolonged exposure to extreme stress — not only military service.

Do I need a formal PTSD diagnosis to start?

Your intake evaluation with our psychiatrist will establish or confirm your diagnosis as part of the process.

Does insurance cover this?

MeRT is FDA-cleared for PTSD, but FDA clearance is separate from insurance coverage. Coverage depends on your diagnosis and plan. Our team verifies your benefits before you commit to anything — contact care team to start that process.

Is MeRT FDA-cleared for PTSD?

Yes. As of June 2026, the MeRT System has its own FDA clearance (510(k) K260402) as an adjunct treatment for PTSD in adults — the same rigorous clearance pathway as our depression and OCD treatment. In Wave Neuroscience's pivotal trial, patients averaged a 52% symptom reduction with a 68% remission rate.
