EEG-Guided MeRT for Brain Fog · Michigan

When brain fog won't lift, start with what's actually happening in your brain.

Persistent brain fog — trouble concentrating, mental fatigue, feeling mentally “slow” — can follow illness, injury, or stress, or appear with no clear cause. MeRT® maps your brain's activity with a qEEG and builds a personalized protocol around it.

When brain fog has an unclear cause

Brain fog can follow Long COVID, a head injury, prolonged stress, or show up without an obvious trigger at all. If you've been told your labs look normal but you still don't feel like yourself, a qEEG can offer a different kind of information: a picture of your brain's own activity patterns.

Post-illness or post-COVID

See our dedicated Long COVID page if your brain fog followed a COVID infection.

Post-concussion

See our dedicated TBI recovery page if your brain fog followed a head injury.

No clear trigger

If your brain fog doesn't have an obvious cause, this page — and a functional medicine evaluation — may be the right starting point.

Mapping the patterns behind the fog

A qEEG brain map identifies the specific patterns associated with your symptoms. Dr. Wallace brings a functional medicine lens to that same evaluation, considering other root-cause factors — sleep, inflammation, and related contributors — alongside your MeRT protocol. A note on FDA clearance

The rTMS equipment used in MeRT is FDA-cleared for depression and OCD. Use for brain fog is considered off-label, following a full evaluation, and insurance coverage is unlikely.

What patients ask

Do I need a specific diagnosis to start?

No single diagnosis is required. Your evaluation will look at your history and qEEG findings to determine whether MeRT is appropriate for your situation.

How is this different from just waiting it out?

MeRT is an active, personalized protocol built from your own brain data, rather than a wait-and-see approach.

Does insurance cover this?

Coverage for brain fog specifically is unlikely, since it's an off-label use. Our team can verify your benefits before you commit to anything.
